"Simon Peter" By Christopher W. French
My name is Simon, a fisherman by trade.
And then came Jesus....a disciple he made!
"Come follow me" he said, "forsake all you’ve known!"
So I left my boat and all that I owned.
God in the flesh, his miracles made clear,
I knew he was Christ!...we held him so dear.
"Simon" he said, "I have prayed for you,
and when you turn back, strengthen the others too."
"No Lord!" I said, "This you can be sure,
for even till death, my love will endure!!"
"Simon, Simon, before the rooster crows twice,
you will deny that you know me, disown me thrice!"
Later that night they took him away,
in fear and great trembling, we all went astray!
And there by the fire, my Lord I denied..
The rooster had crowed, I wept and I cried!
He turned and he saw me, his eyes had met mine,
remembering his words said, "Now is their time!"
In this hour of darkness a great Light has shone!
My Jesus, my Savior...had gone all alone.
